We will rise again Zambonga

They granted us the greatest gift.
A chance and a rebirth,
We will rise, renew, stronger and united
This is our time our chance to get back to the best of who we are
To live by example with the dignity, entegrity and honor
That built zamboanga, and which will build it once again.

Siargao Island : The Surfing Capital of the Philippines

The best-known surfing roller on Siargao with a worldwide reputation for thick, hollow tubes is "Cloud 9". This right-breaking ridge wave is the site of the annual Siargao Cup, a domestic and international surfing competition sponsored by the provincial government of Surigao del Norte.

The wave of Siargao is cyclic with tidal curves typically present especially on the east shore of the island.

It is the Surfing Capital of the Philippines.

how to get there?

Get to Manila or Cebu, then either go straight to Siargao Island or Surigao (which is slightly cheaper but takes a lot longer). If you take the Surigao option, you will need to get a boat from Surigao to Siargao. Once you land in Dapa, the main port of Siargao, the trip to Cloud Nine can be made by either public jeepney, motorbike, or private van. Motorbike should be 150Php.
It’s a tight connection to make the last ferry that departs Surigao pier at 12 noon to Siargao island so if you miss the boat you will either have to stay overnight in Surigao or we can assist with organising a private pump boat to bring you to the island.

There is also the overnight boat option from Cebu to Surigao City with Cokaliong Shipping Lines.

The ferry departs Cebu at 7pm daily except for Sundays. From Surigao City to Cebu there is no ferry on Mondays.

From Dapa (Siargao boat port)

Van transfer from Dapa pier on Siargao to Cloud Nine takes about 30 minutes.
Tricycle takes about 40 mins and costs about 150 – 200PHP, very bumpy ride after GL!
Motorbike takes about 35 mins and should cost around 140PHP.

Dakak Adventures

Just 30-minute drive from the city of Dipolog is Dakak Beach, Dipolog. This, among great feats of nature in the city of Dipolog, is the most popular beachfront in the coastal city, taking in most of the gentle incoming waves coming from the vast Sulu Sea.
Dakak Beach, Dipolog is protected by a bay with a most unusual shape—it’s not a perfect concave but a slightly angled bay that looks like the wide open mouth of a crocodile, especially when seen from a bird’s eye view. Dakak Beach, Dipolog has fine white sand all over and a beachfront that softly kisses the gently coming waves.

Most Expensive City

Tokyo has regained the unenviable title of the world's most expensive city for expatriates, while the eurozone crisis has made many European cities cheaper according to a survey published Tuesday.
At the other end of the scale, the survey by the Mercer group named the Pakistani port Karachi as the least expensive city, with living costs around three times cheaper than in the Japanese capital.
The report, published annually to help companies assess compensation allowances for expatriate workers, compared the cost of over 200 items in 214 cities, using New York as a reference. The items on the list included housing, food and transport.
Tokyo pushed the oil-boom Angolan capital Luanda into second place to retake the top spot in the survey. Another Japanese city, Osaka, came third, the Russian capital Moscow in fourth, and Geneva fifth.
Cities in the eurozone slid in the rankings as the euro has slid against the US dollar during the debt crisis. Paris dropped 10 spots to 37th, Rome fell eight to 42nd, and Athens tumbled 24 to 77th.
London slipped from 18th in the table last year down to 25th place.
In contrast, appreciation against the US dollar helped push Australian and New Zealand cities up, with Adelaide jumping 19 spots to 27th.

It's More Fun in Basilan

White Beach Lukbuton, Bazilan - i have never been to any beach as many times as i did in Lukbuton White Beach. But like most part of Basilan, safety remains to be the most important consideration. one needs to check the situation before going there. when one books a ride from the island dock site to the beach, some armed security are usually provided.

how to get there:

from Isabela city:
option 1: take a boat trip from Isabela city's boat dock site for Malamawi bound trips. it is just a short walk away from the main dock site of ferries coming from Zamboanga. Isabela dock site to Malamawi pier (10minutes or less). from the pier, if you've arranged in advance for a pick-up, they will pick you up from here for an hour or less trip to White beach.
option 2: rent a boat from Isabela city pier Malamawi bound that will bring you directly to White beach. warning: this can be risky as waves are most of the time big for this route. this less recommended.

Pasyando na Zamboanga City

Fort Pilar

Over the past many decades, there has never been made a detailed pictorial representation of the venerable fort of the fabled City of Zamboanga, the place they refer to as "The City of Flowers."  It is unfortunate that many people do not have the capacity or the interest to present this pictorial of the historic Fort Pilar, the "Real Fuerza de Nuestra SeƱora del Pilar de Zaragosa." A pictorial history is being unfolded herein, and it is possible to picture former and present-day life in the fort through the architectural details and design of this sturdy fort that has never lost sight of its purpose of protecting its citizens.  Bienvenidos!

Paseo del Mar

Paseo del Mar is within the barangay of Zone IV and is only about 100 feet from Fort Pilar. There are several cement benches at the park and there is long walkway along the shoreline or break-water. In the afternoon when there are visitors, the bajao kids in their bancas paddle along the breakwater walkways and entice the visitors to throw coins into the sea water. It's fun to watch the badjaos dive and fetch the coin before it hits bottom.
To the south you can see the two santa cruz islands and the big Basilan Island.
At night Paseo del Mar is well lit and usually there are police officers around for security.
Lantaka Hotel is also only about 150 feet to the west of Paseo del Mar.

The Ozamiz Escapade

Easily the first to attract passengers of incoming vessels to the Ozamiz City Port from a distance of about more than a mile away during daytime is the Misamis, Cotta, also called earlier as the Triunfo, a stone fort built along the shores of Panguil Bay more than two centuries ago.

COTTA, an old fort with major portions already rebuilt. But one can still see the old, original stones in some sections. The fort is right beside the pier on Panguil Bay. An old cannon stood there, presumably to ward off invaders in those days.

DOLPHIN ISLAND is NOT an island. It is a complex that started form a solitary “bantay dagat” station. The government then created more structures that included a restaurant, a swimming pool, a grandstand,  and an area enclosed by net where dolphins are kept and fed. Visitors can feed the dolphins, or swim with them, for a fee.
